Sirus started out as two separate companies in separate cities. Over 30 years ago, Frank Caul was operating an HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) company called Temperature in Cork while James Byrne had just started a new BMS (Building Management Systems) company called Compute Systems in Dublin. Due to changes in technology, the HVAC business required a temperature controlling system. At the time the market for building management systems, which control HVAC equipment and manage energy use, was beginning to take off.
The two companies merged to form a new company, Sirus, with a combined staff of 10 and initially operated by providing general HVAC services and carrying out BMS projects for commercial operations.
In 2018, SAUTER, the international, Swiss-based, leader in building automation technology acquired a majority shareholding in Sirus. SAUTER has been providing solutions in control and HVAC service and maintenance for more than 100 years and chose to invest in Sirus as the leading building services company in Ireland.
Precision and excellence in delivery and loyalty and longevity in approach are the common characteristics both Sirus and SAUTER share. Sirus make up a significant part of the SAUTER business, being the 3rd largest company in their portfolio.
