Case Study

RWE Npower:
Power Plant BMS Supply, Install & Commission

In 2010, RWE NPower constructed a new 2,200 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Plant in Pembrokeshire Wales. The main contractor on this project was Alstom Power Ltd. & Alstom (Schweiz) AG and Dornan Engineering were the M&E Contractor.

Twelve buildings were constructed as part of this project which required HVAC & BMS control.

The Solution

Sirus was engaged by Dornan Engineering to supply, install and commission the Siemens Building Management system (BMS) for the project.

Each building was set up with its own individual BMS panel with local display of environmental data and alarming functionality.

Sirus also supplied the high spec. Form 4 MCC panels with 110VAC control circuitry in a demanding environment.

The Result

Pembroke Power Station began commercial operation in September 2012 and is one of the largest and most efficient plants of its kind in Europe. It’s capable of generating over 2200MW of electricity – enough to power approximately four million homes.

Sirus collaborated successfully with Dornan Engineering completing this 600 I/O project on schedule and within budget.
