Viatris:
BMS and EMS Installation & Upgrade

Viatris (formerly Mylan) is one of Ireland’s largest pharmaceutical employers, with a combined legacy of more than 150 years. As a leading pharmaceutical supplier in the Irish retail market, Viatris also plays a crucial role in supporting key patient groups.

The projects undertaken by Sirus were the commercial realisation of the pilot plant in Baldoyle, Dublin. In 2013, Sirus was selected to provide both the Building Management System (BMS) and Energy Management System (EMS) for this facility. In 2024, Sirus successfully carried out an upgrade project to install the latest Siemens Desigo CC software.

The Solution

The initial BMS and EMS implementation included the following:

• 1000 BMS Distributed Hardwired I/O points.
• 130 EMS Distributed Hardwired I/O points.
• 9 Form 4 MCC’s with integrated BMS, and EMS sections.
• 2 Servers (EMS & BMS) installed in a virtual environment (V-LAN), physically located in Stuttgart, Germany.
• 5 BMS Management Stations and 4 EMS Management Stations.

The EMS panels featured DPT panel sections and signal repeaters (“splitters”), enabling shared use of temperature, humidity, and differential pressure instruments across both systems. Additionally, Sirus provided custom Local Room Environmental Display Units tailored to Viatris’ needs.

In 2024, Sirus completed an upgrade on the BMS and EMS platforms from Siemens Desigo Insight to Siemens Desigo CC V7. The EMS upgrade was verified through Viatris IQ procedures, and remote SMS alarm notifications were configured for both BMS and EMS.
